You don't get this stage until you dig very deep into the game and played it a whole lot, but this one is pretty fun. In fact, as you need to have at least 150 Hidden Items (art, music, videos, and documents), and these Hidden Items have no radar forcing Sonic to search for them the old-fashioned way, unlocking this stage requires a great deal of patience...something you normally don't expect to need in a Sonic game.
This stage is comparable in length to Arid Sands Act 1, actually, just a bit shorter. The gimmick here is that in the 3-D portions, Sonic is riding in some weird desert car. It functions exactly the same as the bobsled in the Cool Edge stages...just for sand instead of ice. The gas pedal seems to be stuck, as Sonic zooms on forward without an ability to stop. Good thing its frame is indestructible and can cancel momentum entirely. If you thought the day stages in this game looked more appropriate for a racing game than a platformer, well, putting Sonic in a car pretty much seals the deal. It's still fun though.
The 2-D portion is a series of some pretty nasty traps involving bottomless pits. Boosting too much will only lead to Sonic's demise, as the enemies here are palced so that they can attack a boosted Sonic traveling across--but NOT the regular unboosted Sonic, as long as you know how to dodge them. The featured enemy here is the Mole Cannon, which pops up from the ground to attack Sonic with its machine guns. They only fire straight, but that's all they need when the path is also straight.
