As said in the previous Trails cover, I am completely addicted to this series with it's amazing story and fantastic music! I seriously can't recommend these games enough. There are a ton of songs I want to cover from this series, so there will definitely be more to come, and let me know if there's any you want to hear!
I first played the first game in the series back in December, and when I first heard this tune, it already felt nostalgic to me! I'm a lot further ahead in the series now so this tune feels a lot more nostalgic, which I think shows how amazing the composition is. The fact I feel that despite having only heard this track not too long ago. It's a standout song for many reasons, being a lot more jazz orientated for a battle theme, as opposed to a rock or metal song. And it sets the scene really nicely, as the first game is quite light hearted and relatively chill, as opposed to what's to come in future games. I definitely knew I wanted to cover it when I first heard it, it was just a matter of when!
The arrangement wasn't too tricky, I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do. The tricky thing was working out the chords and how to arrange it for guitar, since I'm not the most familiar with jazz and jazz chords, much less how to play them on guitar. The chuggy section and funk section were also parts I knew I wanted before I started arranging, especially since it's been a while since I could do something funky! In terms of mixing, I'm still really not happy with the mix, it was a really tricky one since a lot is going on and I'm experimenting with stuff too, but this was the best I can do given my weekly deadlines. I might re-mix this one at some point in the future, but for now hopefully you all won't hate it too much!
And finally, I originally had another collab planned out but it unfortunately fell through. Luckily, the amazing Shane Steward was about to pull through and do an amazing solo for me on super short notice! He perfectly nailed the solo, doing a great balance of some shred and some more expressive playing!
