This cover was at the request of Noble, as I've yet to get around to playing this series, he's definitely a big fan! And definitely a good shout because the Witcher series does have some amazing music!
The original is a very beautiful and mellow, so I definitely had to be careful how I approached this one. For the most part, I wanted to cover this song as it is with the metal section at the end, but I added one little twist. Tuning my guitar to DADFAE (and ADADFAE on the 7 string) in order to alter the chords into more interest, and slightly more melancholic sounding chords! And speaking of that tuning, I've hidden a subtle but very intentional Opeth reference in the song, so let me know if you notice it!
The biggest challenge with this cover was mainly approaching my heavier guitar tone. I had to use significantly less gain than usual in order to get these extended chords to come through clearly, but I didn't want to sacrifice the heaviness from using the 7 string. I think I worked out a good balance between quad tracking certain parts, as well as Noble's bass part really pulling through!
