Soul Saber (or SoulSaber) is a pretty generic fighter made by the doujin circle "Yamada", who made games like Armored Rare and the "sequel" to this game, Soul Saber 2. The game is super broken as a fighter, with overpowered moves galore and cheap priority. The controls are also very cumbersome, which is awkward considering that moves are simple forward + button, back + button stuff.

Ver 1.12 is significantly different in terms of the way things take place and has some novel differences. It features additional characters such as Madoka C.E. and "Saber" (Fate/Stay, she acts as a broken final boss), tweaked moves, knockback on attacks, allows you to change the speed which adjusts the framerate slightly (allows it to run 60FPS or below, instead of the fixed 56 or whatever the original ran at), the fighting is very different (even simple strikes cost considerable energy to execute and executing moves without energy takes life, so some strategy is involved) and, while you can't see it, the game is a higher resolution, which means the video is a little higher in quality (800 x 600 versus 640 x 480). The game can seem cheaper as the CPU uses considerably less energy and goes on a rampage, but the original was a cakewalk.

The game is playable, but not very interesting. I haven't invested much time in Soul Saber 2 to give it a real assessment.
