Truxton is a classic and excellent (and challenging) vertical Toaplan shooter released back in the late eighties and was one of the Genesis' earliest titles. It's fairly well-known amongst Sega gamers and Toaplan fans, but it never hurts to spread the word.

This game is your run of the mill shooter with power-ups and bombs. It has good visuals and music for the time and the bosses are very large. I also like how the enemies show damage as they take, well, damage. Oh, and your bomb is a giant menacing skull. A funny thing about this game is if you use a bomb and pause the game for a few seconds, it will kill any enemy from my understanding. Enjoy.
