Soulcalibur II Plus [DOLPHIN/HACK]: Standard Arcade Run with Taki [Hard Difficulty]
I suck so hard with this character...
Anyways, starting off the week with something new-ish. Long time ago I showed off Soulcalibur II in various videos & streams, though those were the old school console variants. Last decade we were... "graced" with the official re-release of this game on X360 and PS3 consoles: "SC2 HD Online". Simply put... it sucked. The game was clearly held back by both time and download file restraints and while it tried to recapture the flame, the lack of Japanese dubbing and ESPECIALLY the absolutely ABYSMAL online netcode/lobby system made it basically only worth getting if you REALLY wanted to have Heihachi and Spawn in the same game at the same time. Unfortunately... that kind of missed the whole point since SC2 is legendary for the Nintendo Gamecube port, which added Link from The Legend of Zelda as a playable character, which basically guarenteed that the GC version is the one nearly every fan was especially fond of. So... the HD re-release not getting a Wii U variant just really missed the whole point of the game's main appeal (which is even more hilarious when you consider I'm typing this with the Switch 2 out: which has the original GC port available DAY ONE on the Nintendo Subscription service).
However... there seems to be a group of Souls that knew exactly what SC2's potential was... and decided to drag it out of the Astral Chaos ether one way or another.
Enter: SC2 Plus: a romhack/heavily modded version of the OG console versions of SC2 that combines the 3 guests characters into a single game file (...well as much as possible. For the incoming guests, their actual official models aren't compatible just yet, so a LOT of clever model modding is being used instead right now to emulate their appearances. However, ALL voicing, animations and character data otherwise is very much in-tact from their respective versions), as well as adds costumes to the existing roster on top of their usual 2-3. The current version I'm using (0.9.9.7 GC edition) even goes the step further in making Siegfried (with a slightly different moveset than Nightmare, voiced by his SC3 English actor) and Inferno playable (...though with current technical limitations: he does NOT have his actual flames when active. He also has normal cast health... which makes a CERTAIN battle rather interesting in retrospect...)
For this little video, I take yet another character I usually don't play as (and TRUST ME, IT SHOWS) through the game to check out it's most recent updates. I was never a Taki fan, but I did enjoy this Costume 3 a lot. Plus I'm kind of going into a sort of "exploration" phase so I'm trying out little things I never did before out of curiosity.
