Space Engineers 2023 Excelsior Vs Reliant
Not much to add to this aside from the timer being about 3 minutes quicker meaning that in essence Excelsior is "*probably" about 20% more dangerous than the Reliant.
*That may not be exact but it's pretty close as estimates go. The overall damage inflicted vs received over x amount of time etc etc. The real problem is of course the tactics change this extensively so really we are left guessing.
But over an average of say 10 matches if the times don't change (much) we can estimate using that formula. I can definitely say that over hundreds of matches I am usually pretty close on which ships will win and in what amount of time to within about a minute. There doesn't seem to be a magic solution to extending a given ship's durability beyond an additional 25-30 seconds under heavy targeted fire where the warp core is concerned.
However, the spacing of auxiliary power modules can extend the durability by minutes or longer depending on how much restoration the ship is actually capable of. A classic era ship might have 1 auxiliary module, and some batteries. Or maybe just batteries if the ship is ancient. TOS era ships might have 2 auxiliary modules, movies 1-5 as many as 3 and perhaps some batteries, TNG era up to 4 but no more batteries generally, etc.
The phaser and torpedo systems starting at classic/tos are red for phasers and basic for torpedos or just missiles if it's Enterprise series era. Orange and basic torpedos or vtorpedos for movies 1-5, 6 and beyond we start looking at higher volumes of basic and v torpedos and start adding green phasers, etc.
By Picard era (and in the case of Voyager and Defiant) we have generally at least 1/2 quantum and Green dispered with Blue phasers or if it's newest i.e. Enterprise E or later we use Bluse phasers and pulsers with 100% quantum.
The exceptions are notable, certain spoiled Excelsior types (We are looking right at the USS Lakota in this example) might have quantum and more than usual phasers where it was called for canonically.
As for the other Torpedo variants Romulans use the plasma, Valdore Class uses quantum, we might let Dominion use the dampening ones occasionally, (those turn off multiple ship systems for quite awhile) but that is alright they also use polaron to the same effect.
Klingons top out at Vphoton and generally orange now. If it's a B'rell class we might sub in green phasers but limit torpedos to basic. This wouldn't apply to newer classes but generally to D7 and variants, and Bird of Prey (all variants.)
