Gen 1 vs Gen 3 and the results were shall we say "intriguing?" By all rights the Hood should have ripped us to bits with her much higher power output getting channeled through 3x as many weapons which are tuned by color to their era.
Red - TOS or Enterprise Era
Orange - movies 1-5
Green - TNG series era (and related)
Blue - Picard era (and related)
A Gen 3 Excelsior's weapons are a full era ahead and with more of them it would be logical to assume the damage to Excelsior would be catastrophic right?
Technically perhaps on paper. Remember that Klingons have used those Bird Of Prey ships with very little actual improvement aside from power output since (we are told) the TOS era. The different classes of Bird Of Prey have tech specs that make a big to do about their output. A bit like classic cars - they may become older, but are they ever really obsolete?
