Space Engineers: Thugboat Mk IV Atmospheric Testing
With the potential for a hop dirtside on Uncooperative Survival in the future, I figured it would probably be best if I did some testing on the Thugboat in advance. Aside from two rather annoying trees, I had a surprisingly long run on this one before I augured into the ground.
This is the Thugboat Mk IV with what I suspect will be the final tweaks to the design in general. The final change was dropping the LBX-20 out of the line of sight and a little further back on the chassis so the cockpit has a clear view.
Connectivity for the craft has also been re-engineered. I've re-used the old conveyor plumbing for the top turret to accommodate the connector and instead slotted in a merge block where it used to be. This also made room to fit two more small cargo containers while providing the ability to carry utility attachments -- after all, the Thug is designed purely for combat, not for utility like cargo hauling, salvaging or mining. Since we have the onboard projector and Bob though, that does open up some options... more on that in the future I hope.
Overall, I think she does pretty good in the atmosphere. I was a little worried about insufficient gyro power, but what's over-engineered for space works great on the planet. Even without banking for turns, she changes direction well. And if you screw up... well, again, that's what we have Bob and the projector, right? :D
