So during the Youkai Buster playthrough, I mentioned that the music reminded me Spanky's Quest a bit, so since I had time afterwards I booted it up and had a bit of Spanky myself. Spanky's Quest is another Natsume game for the Super NES. This one I think is a bit early so we don't see that typical Natsume flair, but the graphics are cute enough.

As Spanky, your goal is to collect keys to exit the level. Spanky's only attack is throwing a bubble, which he can bounce on his head to increase its size and pop. Depending on its size it'll turn into different sports balls which do different things. In a way it feels a bit like an older arcade platformer but its enjoyable and gets pretty tough. Maybe I'll return to this at a later time? Unsure.
