Valkyrie no Densetsu Gaiden: Rosa no Bouken (Machine Translated) - Playthrough
This has been a long time coming, with graphic card drivers suddenly crashing the first time I attempted this stream, but here we are. The last stop on our Namco Valkyrie quest. Valkyrie no Densetsu Gaiden: Rosa no Bouken, aka Legend of Valkyrie Side Story: Adventure of Rosa, is a Visual Novel for Windows 95 created in Macromedia Director and like pretty much everything else Valkyrie, it never left Japan. That's why we've got the assistance of Universal Game Translator, Google Vision Cloud, and the DeepL api to help us get through. Machine translation is a nightmare but its barely better than nothing at all.
Rosa no Bouken starts by having the Goddess create a new daughter, Rosa, to send down to Marvel Land in order to put a stop to some new trouble. A temple which held a great evil sealed in its pillar collapsed, allowing it to escape and possess someone to do it's evil bidding. Folks of Marvel Land are being turned into stuffed animals, so its up to Rosa and Valkyrie to solve this mystery. Sadly for them, Rosa is a big gremlin brat and Valkyrie isn't much of a detective so they often find themselves on wild goose chases.
It's a fun little story, with Rosa having a little arc, some new characters introduced to the Valkyrie lore like Bianca the female Sandra and Michelle the Quarkman/Koakuman, and we get to hear Valkyrie be fully voiced, plus some banger tunes play including some vocal themes. This was originally a drama cd that was adapted into a game. Calling it a game is very generous though, since while there are some choices, almost none of them seem to matter until the very end. Oh well, its a cute story and the artwork is amazing.
