In this video we do a speedrun of collecting the lobsters in the Normal mission "Rise of the Blood Lobster" before Chapter 8 (and so without the skell flight module). Out of all the 99 lobsters to find in the mission, 2 are unavailable - not because we need the flight module (we can use skell parkour to get troublesome lobsters), but because of progress requirements, so as a result we cannot finish the mission. The Normal mission "Definian Downfall" must be completed for the 98th lobster to spawn, and that is a Post-Chapter 11 mission. The final one spawns after collecting this lobster.

Though this mission cannot be completed as of now, I still wanted to speedrun it to see what it's like to do so with a flightless skell, because it'd be totally different with a flighted skell. One of the second-phase lobsters spawn on top of BLADE Tower, and it's only possible to reach it by abusing the menu-reset trick from Talon Rock on Primordia (for more details, check out my other video where I get to the Floating Reef using this method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxC5_2hAee8). The journey is very long, which makes it take a lot of time in the speedrun, so if I missed this single lobster then the resulting speedrun would be much faster. However, I wanted to prove that it was possible to get this lobster given the conditions, so I included it in the speedrun. Besides, this lobster exists at this time so I have to collect it.

I think I made about 15 or so attempts at this, which isn't many but it is so considering the BLADE Tower journey. Also, I owe it to a bug I call the "flight killer" for ruining some of these runs. The bug basically prevents your skell from jumping when you press ZR and transform back to walker mode (I still don't know how/why exactly it happens); instead of jumping normally when transforming from vehicle mode to walker mode, it treats it as if your skell had already jumped, and so you start falling. This can happen with flighted skells too - they'll just keep falling and you won't really be able to engage flight.

I'll do another speedrun of this but with the flight module. It'll be more refined than what this was - by that I mean this speedrun will have more attempts put into it because it won't involve the arduous stunt of bugging my way to BLADE Tower, and that'll make things a lot easier.

Oh yeah, timestamps:
