Splatoon 2: Splatfest World Premiere (Demo) -- Basic (Re-)Training
3Well, I finally decided I should probably take a break from all this taking a break from uploading videos... y'know, just to change up the pace and whatnot. Not at all 'cause I've been lazy or otherwise sidetracked, but I swear there's a good reason for all that... ... ... what, you want an actual excuse? Uh... hey, look over there, an excuse!
No, wait, I was thinking of a distraction... ... ...darn!
Anyway, it should not come as a surprise to anyone that... wait, no, maybe it SHOULD come as a surprise, because I totally stopped uploading Splatoon footage forever ago and only JUST finished the regular ol' Octo Valley uploads embarrassingly recently, so you guys would have NO idea how into (or not) this game--now SERIES--I am... ... ...well, I am!
It occurs to me that, as a result, anyone living under a rock, for some reason relying solely on my videos to understand what the heck any of this is... will be totally confused! What the heck is a Splatfest? Premiere? ...World?! (We'll get to some of those pieces of the puzzle later, though.)
Just as with the first game, Nintendo decided to drum up a little pre-release buzz and provide fence-sitting (or hype-foaming) players the opportunity to try the game out a bit prior to the game being released into the wild for general inkblot testing. For the first game, this took the form of several so-called "Global Testfire" events. Splatoon 2 has also received one of these, but the second one turned out to be a combination of this with the signature "Splatfest" event wherein players pledge loyalty to one of two themed team choices, and members play Turf Wars for the allotted time period for popularity, prestige, and (total, legal!) team superiority! (You think I'm joking about that last part... but I'm... ... ...merely reusing someone else's joke about such. I'm not sorry.)

Great, sounds fun! But we'll get to that part later... first, we've got to undergo basic training! ...well, I mean, again. If you played the first game, you probably know all this. If you watched me play this segment in the Testfire and/or the first game, you probably already know this. You can probably SKIP this if you really want to, but this is still a pretty cool part of the game to get to do, especially before the thing comes out, so we're going to do it! Or I will... you sit there and watch! ...or skip it. You totally can! I'll just see you next video!

Seriously, though, the game does a really good job of showing for itself, and with just a little timely pop-in every so often explaining what's up with some seriously weird and nontraditional mechanics, this is basically the World 1-1 of Splatoon... 2... World 2...-1? ... ... ...total metaphor self-destruction.
As a result, I have much less to describe at the moment, and we'll see what's up later. Probably! I think I'm committed and can't run away this time. Maybe. (You're not the boss of me!)
