Splatoon 3: A solid silver performance in Salmon Run Big Run [44-44-39, 31/765]
Hey, a squidmate is inking a wall over there! I think we're gonna get along. The early bosses are straightforward enough, and I'm enjoying the power of the Heavy Edit Splatling. Its range helps out too when a Stinger appears, and although I could probably splat the Big Shot when it arrives, a squidmate is heading out there, so I stick with a Fish Finger. Or maybe they need help. I revive them and run away, not being able to do much against a moving Flyfish, and instead look to splat another Flipper. I see the Maws in time, but stay for the splat, and get a big caught up. That could eat in to our egg count a little. I'm revived and get back to splatting and egg dunking, and my squidmates are busy all over the place. Time for some last few eggs, and with a decent total we're going in to the second wave.
The tide comes in, which is generally good for high egg counts. But I am given Glooga Dualies, which has the opposite effect. A Steelhead is an easy start, as is a Fish Finger with clear turf. I doubt I'll be dodge-rolling as effectively when things get busier. I keep it going for a little longer, and find space to keep the rolls coming, and even somehow manage to dodge between two Cohocks looking to pan me. More and more rolls, like I am a pro with the Gloogas, when I struggle with them normally. But I pull out a Dolphin to save time against a Steelhead and take some pressure off, which leaves us with much simpler Scrappers to deal with, near the basket, for a good haul of last-second eggs. There are plenty more left on the turf, or in the arms of Snatchers, but we do well, considering.
The third wave has the tide go out, giving us more walls to ink. And Mr Grizz, having seen my performance in the previous wave, gives me more Dualies, these the basic Splat variety. Okay, sure. And two of my squidmates too. Sorry, guys, I guess I just looked good out there! But getting Scrappers by the basket is nice too, not that I think Grizz has much say in that, I guess. I dash off to splat a Stinger, sensibly not sticking around to grab any eggs in the middle of mayhem, but before I know it another has appeared, and this time there are more salmonids around it. I neither complete the splat, nor get away. This is harming our egg count when a good total looked possible. I'm revived quickly, which is excellent, and I throw some eggs forwards and get back to the basket to dunk what I can. We do well in the dying seconds, and good enough for a new record, if not for a gold trophy. Next time. Woomy!
