Splatoon 3: Finally finding a groove in Rainmaker [21(4)-7, Range Blaster]
I've been struggling a bit, so it's back with the Range Blaster for some comfortable battling. But, of course, all weapons take skill and awareness, even ones you know best, and I'm not just going to be good all of a sudden. Or maybe I'll do okay. I keep my range, am saved from a flanking inkling by a squidmate, and push forwards sensibly. I even hide from a Hammer, instead of trying to take it head on. I see the E-litre 4K take a shot over my head too, and think about surprising them. It is, however, not the scoped version of the charger, and popping out of the ink alerts them to my presence, taking them out of my sights. They are a quicker shot than me.
I head back and get another shot at the E-litre 4K, but again they manage to run away. I get a splat with an opportunistic Suction Bomb, on the Splatana Wiper, but back away from the B-bomb only to swim right in to it. I try to find the right time to strike on my return, and get it half right, getting a splat just as I am splatted, going for the head-on approach again. I get a lucky splat as I ink my way past our podium, and a lucky escape from a too-close bucket, and manage to catch the Splattershot Pro with a nice blast to take some pressure off the team for a few seconds.
I have the presence of mind to launch my Wave Breaker before picking up the Rainmaker, for what it's worth, but the purple team returning at the same time makes for some formidable ink, and we are overrun a little too easily. They dash the Rainmaker ahead in our absence, and we aren't able to stop them hitting the first checkpoint. I somehow survive a Hammer by standing in front of it, and try to prevent the purple team recovering the Rainmaker. I don't succeed, and lose track of the Rainmaker, as the lead is taken away from us.
We still have time, it's okay. First, we have to get the Rainmaker, and splatting the other team helps. I try to get close to the E-litre 4K, but it's difficult, and only just manage to survive a B-bomb to throw out a Wave Breaker, just before I'm splatted. My Wave Breaker gets revenge, and a second splat, which is nice. That just leaves the charger, and my squidmates grab the Rainmaker and move it forwards.
The Rainmaker is dropped, but once the bucket beneath me is splatted, I manage to get some good blasts around a block to splat the Splattershot Pro, just about avoiding a Torpedo as I do. After that, I catch the Rainmaker and E-litre 4K with some good hits, and finish off with the returning bucket trying to burst the Rainmaker shield. Nice! I keep the move flowing, throwing a Wave Breaker and pushing forwards, my squidmates behind grabbing the Rainmaker and getting us back the lead, and the splats keep coming for me!
The battle looks won, but the purple team manage to burst the Rainmaker free and avoid my ink to grab it for one last push. I try to get splats, but realise the Rainmaker has gone past me, so backpedal quickly, and although I get an indirect hit, it's a squidmate who secures the victory for us. Woomy!
