Splatoon 3: Pushing for the dunk in Rainmaker [10(3)-3, Custom Wellstring V]
Oh heck, what hit me! Why, that sneaky Splat Roller. I return to burst the Rainmaker free again, and to keep an eye out for the Splat Roller and their Curling Bombs. I'm already nervous about them. But I look forwards and help provide cover for our Rainmaker to move ahead, nearly splatting the Splat Roller as I do. We lose the Rainmaker, and the Splat Roller approaches from a different angle. I'm paying attention, so notice it, but still have to withdraw as the green team make advances. The Splat Roller is on our ledge, and helps their Rainmaker break the checkpoint.
My Wellstring battles a Crab for the Rainmaker shield, doing well to hold its own, but I'm still looking out for the Splat Roller. And, sure enough, they are trying to flank us again. I change my focus, and things seem okay, so shift back to where my squidmates have rushed the Rainmaker forwards and broken our own checkpoint. Nice! The green team recover the Rainmaker but don't get far, and we fight to recover it for ourselves. I hit the Rainamker while keeping an eye out for threats, as a squidmate sacrifices themselves to pick up the Rainmaker just beyond the checkpoint to steal the lead. I look back that way, and there's the Splat Roller. I'm not quick enough to splat them.
The Splat Roller is forging a path forwards, and causing problems. I return to deal with those problems, made greater by the Clash Blaster super-jumping in to their Bubble. Fortunately, I manage to push the Splat Roller back and dodge to the side of the Clash Blaster. Unfortunately, I find myself alone. I manage to hold my turf, and even get the jump on the Clash Blaster, as I wait for my squidmates to return. I keep holding the turf, as the green team creep the Rainmaker our way, doing well not to be suckered forwards, splatting the Clash Blaster vanguard and assisting with the splat of the Rainmaker before they threaten our lead.
I burst the Rainmaker free but leave it where it sits for the moment, not wanting to leap forwards in to a mess of green. I am mildly surprised by a green Curling Bomb going past me, and react quickly to dodge out of the way of the inevitable Splat Roller following behind. I swap sides for the moment, thinking the Splat Roller will come back around, while keeping an eye on the Rainmaker's progress. Our defence holds, and once we get some splats, including a squidmate dealing with the Splat Roller behind us, our position is a lot stronger.
A squidmate grabs the Rainmaker and dashes forwards, extending our lead nicely, and with some more splats it looks like we may even make it to the podium. We don't quite reach it before the Rainmaker is dropped again, and this time I am quickly disavowed of the idea to keep the push going. I almost manage to run away, if not for a pause, and I get my revenge from a Wave Breaker. Time is running out too, and quickly enough that the green team's idea to reset the Rainmaker does not work out for them, leaving it in its shield in the middle of the Resort. Woomy!
