Splatoon 3: Somehow better as three in Salmon Run Eggstra Work [21-27-22-25-29, 47/1189]
Eggstra Work felt pretty rough this time out. I was happy getting the Explosher, as it can be a tricky weapon to wield, but it's also powerful. If you know what it can do. For a start, it can ink walls with great efficiency. I'm slow to start in this Run because our Explosher isn't inking the walls. And also because I've been given the Octobrush. Oh, and we start with a squad of three instead of four. But never mind all that, I suppose. I suck up the circumstances, ink some walls, and try to get my first clearance of the shift.
I'm not expecting much, to be honest. I haven't got to the fifth wave yet, with full squads and me with the Explosher. At least our Explosher knows that they can splat Mudmouths without needing Splat Bombs. But I have another problem. I get a phone call that needs my attention. I answer it, put it on speaker, and do my best to resolve some remote tech support. It only occupies my attention a little, and we make it through to the third at the expense of only one splatting.
In the third wave, I'm mostly focussed on survival. Splat the bosses, get to the next wave. I don't think it's too difficult, but if the multitude of Stingers aren't splatted quickly they can really cause problems. I find this out again, as I struggle to get out of the Big Shot corner. I am almost thankful I have a brush, as I can run away from the attention, and then a bit of ink rail hopping splats the final pot of one Stinger, lets me revive a squidmate, and move on to the other two Stingers, if a bit late to influence much about the wave.
In to the fog for the fourth wave. Again, I just want to get to the fifth wave. I'm not looking to set a high score. As such, I whip out a Crab to splat the Big Shot, and maybe a second, although perhaps linger a bit too long at the cannon. It lets me splat a Lid, I suppose, but those are pretty low threats. I get back to the basket to finish splatting a Fish Finger and to dunk eggs, enough to get us to the final wave, if only we can stay unsplatted. That's made harder by that ink rail that keeps trapping me when I am trying to jump. I'm revived, at least, and concentrate on survival, almost thwarted again by the same ink rail, but we make it.
Here we go, the final wave! It's low tide, and entirely new. I'll just have to cope with what comes as if it was a standard wave of Salmon Run. I deal with the Big Shot, some Stingers, and a Fish Finger, before wasting ink on a Flyfish that our Explosher has got covered. That mires me in goop and gets me eaten by Maws, which is a silly mistake, and despite being revived I am splatted again too soon, being stuck between a Chum and Scrapper. I think that's my inexperience with the Octobrush. My squidmates are staying up, which is good, and a Wave Breaker brings me back, letting me stuff the basket full of eggs. I get a return phone call as the wave is ending, causing another unnecessary splatting, but we made it. My first successful Eggstra Work this time out. It's not a high score, but getting through to the end is worth more at the moment.
