Spyro the Dragon: Part 22: Trashing Through the Tree Tops
Probably the most infamous level in the whole game due to the frustration of trying to get all of the treasure from it. Its theme music is a faster, hissier version of High Caves' theme.
On a basic "Go from Point A to Point B" standpoint, Tree Tops isn't that really as big of a deal as people make it out to be.
However, to get everything in it is a total chore. Most of your traveling will be by Supercharging across huge gaps towards different trees. The problem here is that some places will be harder to reach than others if you're not Supercharged enough.
But it doesn't stop there. After a break from toasting blue thieves, in this level, you'll find a one green thief & one red thief, each of them having a pink Gem that's worth 25 Gems each.
And there's more to it than that. As you directly glide into the level, the green thief you spot immediately runs away from you, going through a huge, elaborate path to get away from you unlike anything you've seen with these guys before. You'll soon run into the red thief that does the same thing.
They'll wake up those monkey enemies to slow you down, and they can use the Supercharge paths to leap huge distances, too. The best way to know if you're able to reach a far away tower is to follow the thief on the same path he takes. Otherwise, you could fall to your death.
Remember that going down at least two Supercharge paths in one sitting should maximize you speed, and give you the greatest jump distance that lets you reach towers you would've missed instead. Trying to double up, however, can be its own chore in a couple areas...
--------------
The dragons I struggled to save here are as follows:
Lyle: A dark green dragon that tells Spyro that he should build up the amount of Supercharges he does if he's gonna explore the Tree Tops.
Jed: The dark red dragon that practically congratulates you for using the Supercharge correctly to reach him. Even Spyro himself knows that this was no easy task to do. Jed's more likely to be the last dragon you find here rather than the first or the second.
Isaak: A lighter green dragon that reminds Spyro that he can jump very far from the very edge of a Supercharge ramp. Spyro already knew this. Reaching Isaak with the Supercharge should be a bit easier to do than reaching Jed.
--------------
There are several metal chests here. Many sealed, and one locked. You have to Supercharge through those sealed chest & find the Key for the locked one.
After defeating the green & red thieves, you once again shouldn't have to deal with anymore thieves.
If you've had a lot of trouble with Tree Tops in your own run through this game, watch this whole video and try to follow what I do in it. NO MORE TROUBLE!
