Although Tabuu has been killed, and the World of Trophies is back to normal, more can still be done.

Every stage, even the Halberd levels and Subspace stage, and be revisited with 4 (or 6 for The Great Maze) of all of the characters you currently have in your army, including Sonic, who had just joined it as well.

Fully-completed levels have rainbow-flashing crowns, while beaten, but not completed stages are marked with a green flag. This usually means that there are still orange boxes to discover.

But for The Forest, The Ruins, and The Swamp, it can also mean there are 3 extra characters to be found, one in each of them. The plot is long over, but you can still try to recruit them for the sake of unlocking them for the entire game, as well as being able to have fun with them in all of the Subspace Emissary's levels. You can also still give everyone Stickers, including them and Sonic.

--------------

So I start this off by going through The Forest again. Not too long afterwards, you'll discover a door that was never there before. Enter it.

You are then taken to the Pirate Ship, where Toon Link spots your character (who remains ambiguous because it could be anyone), and proceeds to fight against you.

It takes a bit to load up this battle, because the game is trying to temporarily switch from its Adventure Mode to a regular Brawl match, which runs on slightly different engines. It does this again after losing or winning the match.

To recruit Toon Link for your army, just defeat him in this one-stock match. Fail, and you still complete The Forest with any collectibles you picked up in it, but no Toon Link for you until you try again and beat him next time.
