On April 5, 2063, Zefram Cochrane tested his new Warp-Field Drive, catching the attention of nearby Vulcans. Though friendly, the Vulcans attempted to halt humanity's progress, but Captain Jonathan Archer led Earth's first starship, the Enterprise NX-01 into the Alpha Quadrant against their wishes. Humanity befriended many species... just not the Romulans, beginning the Earth-Romulan War. To avoid annihilation, both sides signed the Treaty of 2160 creating a Neutral Zone around Romulan Space.
To prevent further wars, Earth and friends then founded the United Federation of Planets and trained new explorers at Starfleet Academy. One cadet, James T. Kirk, gained a rebellious reputation, reprogramming the impossible Kobayashi Maru training exercise and several ladies' hearts. Kirk then served aboard the USS Republic and the USS Farragut, but lost his edge when Farragut's crew was killed by a Dikironium Cloud Creature, blaming himself for hesitating at the phaser controls.
After a brief teaching gig at Starfleet, Kirk's been given a second chance as captain of the USS Enterprise on its five year mission to find new civilizations. Unfortunately, the Soviets, I mean Klingons!-- have launched their own mission to spread their war-mongering ideologies.
So join Kirk and the crew: Spock, Bones, Uhura Sulu, Scotty and all those doomed redshirts as they boldly go where no one has gone before.
