Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Gameplay - Chapter 4: Gardens of Theed
Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jar Jar Binks survived their Bongo trip from Otoh Gunga through Naboo's Core, arriving to the Outskirts of Theed, within a walkable distance to the Royal Naboo Palace, where Queen Amidala is supposed to be. The problem is, the Trade Federation's Droid Army arrived first, and quickly overwhelmed the Royal Naboo Army, unaccustomed to wage large-scale conflicts. The Bridge that lies in front of the trio leads to the Palace, but an AAT has already taken station on the other side and blasted off the bridge, forcing Obi-Wan (also controlled by the player this time) to take the long route instead, which is through the Gardens of Theed. Again, it shouldn't have been more of a minor inconvenience, except that the bulk of the Droid Army is already deployed there, only being SLIGHTLY delayed by a vastly outnumbered squad of Royal Troopers. Hopefully, that's the only thing Obi-Wan needs to rescue the Queen from the Invader Droids. Qui-Gon and Jar Jar's fate remains a question to deal with later, but from the movie you can tell they made it through unscathed.
This chapter is more faithful to the movie than the previous two, except that Obi-Wan hadn't got separated from the other two characters EITHER in this portion. Again, that was yet another artistic license to make the gameplay more interesting.
Will the Jedi and Jar Jar reach the Queen before the Trade Federation capture her?
