Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Gameplay - Chapter 3: Otoh Gunga
I don't have the ways to predict when the ambient sound could glitch, but the good news is that restarting the game fixes it. It's nasty when in happens while I'm close to beat the game, because it forces me to start from the last saved point, but it's what I currently have.
Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jar Jar Binks retreated to Otoh Gunga, the city where Jar Jar comes from. The problem is, Jar Jar had been banished from there prior to the events depicted in the game. The city's leader, Boss Nass, agreed to help Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to travel to Theed by giving them a Bongo, but refused to release Jar Jar, as he deemed that the latter should pay for his unauthorized return. Knowing that Gungan Technology could be tricky to handle, and that needing a Gungan Navigator would be a convenient excuse to spare Jar Jar from his punishment, Qui-Gon instructed Obi-Wan to rescue Jar Jar from his Prison Cell, but without hurting the Gungans he finds in the way. Again, the player controls Obi-Wan, who must traverse the whole Underwater City to rescue Jar Jar and get to the Bongo Bay, where Qui-Gon will be waiting.
I played the level twice. First I played by following Qui-Gon's instruction to not harm the Gungans. Some Guards will be blocking the path, but they could be lured out of their posts by using the Force Push against them or the other Guards nearby. Just move quickly before they get to attack you. The second way is to ignore Qui-Gon's command and kill any troublesome Guards. Fortunately, this approach is also feasible, provided you don't kill any Gungan in the Bubble Structure where Boss Nass is. I also showed what happens when you try to attack Boss Nass after Qui-Gon talked to him. It certainly won't end nice, though.
Like the previous level, this one was another artistic license taken by the game, since Qui-Gon successfully persuaded Boss Nass to take Jar Jar with him and Obi-Wan to Theed, after telling that Jar Jar had a life debt with him. The level is quite entertaining, although some of the puzzles can be annoying as you might have to start over the whole sequence to solve them.
Will the Jedi manage to spare Jar Jar and reach Theed in time?
See you in the next video!
