This is my play through of Starcraft Remastered Brood War with some random commentary. Sometimes you won't even notice I'm there.

Terran Mission 6 - Emperor's Flight

The UED fleet continues their pursuit of Jim Raynor and Arcturus Mengsk, following them all the way to the ruined Protoss home world of Aiur. Having been overrun by Zerg already, the presence of Zerg hives near Raynor's base was not surprising, but the active and functioning Protoss warp gate presented itself as an unknown factor for the staging grounds of the coming battle. Unaware of the circumstances that brought Raynor into the fold of the Protoss and why they would want anything to do with Mengsk, the UED Admirals are perplexed by the mysterious reasons an alien race is interfering in what seemed to be an entirely Terran affair.

The heavy Zerg presence makes the mission a tricky operation, but the threat Mengsk presents if allowed to live is worth the cost. Off screen, Vice Admiral Stukov and Lieutenant Duran will be providing cover from the Zerg elsewhere while the Captain focuses on the task of holding off the Zerg, getting past the Protoss base, and destroying Raynor's base to capture their target.

Given the difficult nature of the mission, Admiral Dugalle deemed it necessary to start deploying the Valkyrie fighters that specialized in air defense. With enough resources and firepower, the Captain once again leads the UED Fleet to victory over their enemies. When Vice Admiral Stukov radioed in to praise the Captain as they were about to clinch another victory, an overwhelming swarm of Zerg come rampaging forth from the northeast where Duran's base was supposed to be.

Celebration turned immediately into confusion as Stukov demands a situation report from Duran after stating that a large swarm of Zerg were in Duran's position. Strangely, Duran replies casually that his scanners do not detect any Zerg in his position and that perhaps Stukov's equipment was faulty.

The reality is that they could see the Zerg approaching, so the contradictory info that Duran was repeating back to them suggested that Duran was not in his assigned position or worse... Hoping to salvage the situation, Stukov orders Duran to return to his position, but Duran conveniently loses contact as something interrupts their radio communications and uses it as a reason to say he could not hear the order that Stukov just gave.

Suspecting something is afoul, Stukov suggests the Captain retreat as they'd be overrun in fifteen minutes given the estimated size of the Zerg force. Stukov then takes his leave telling the Captain to relay to Admiral Dugalle that he has something personal to take care of.

Misfortune falls upon the UED once more as Mengsk escapes from their grasp once again when Raynor and the remaining Protoss take advantage of the sudden chaos cause by the Zerg swarm that Duran was supposed to have held back. While the UED's military successes have been nothing short of astounding, the outcome of what should have been another resounding victory suggests that there might be someone sabotaging things from within.
