When you first start playing Starfield and getting into combat, it may feel that your NPC Companion & Crew Members are a little weak, so you want to know how to make them do more damage and kill enemies faster in combat.
The answer is simple - give them a good gun (there's an argument that it should be your best gun) some ammo for it, and one throwable grenade, and you'll find they become much more helpful and powerful in combat.
You can also upgrade their space-suit and helmet to get better defensive stats for them, and check their perks in your crew roster to see if they are better suited to a particular type of weapon.
Thanks, Rob.
