I have been wanting to do a comparison between these two companies for a while but it has not been easy to find the information about Hughes Net and even though I have had them in the past I wasn't sure on some of the information until I found it on a site that allows you to sign up for Hughes Net Gen 5.

For those that already know a fair amount about starlink won't be too surprised by my end conclusion :)

For those that think both of these are slow, you have to keep in mind, nobody that has access to fiber internet with speeds over 500Gbps in a town and latencies lower than 20 ms would be. This if for all the people living out in the country or in areas where so many of the internet companies don't find it profitable enough to expand to your area or they charge you $5-$10k to run the lines so you could get it.
