Rozalski's artwork certainly puts you into a specific time and place with its moody colors, somber landscapes, and giant multilegged spider mechs lurking in the hazy backgrounds. I dig this stuff so much!
I don't recall where I first saw these illustrations, but I know when the boardgame Scythe rolled around onto Kickstarter, the artwork looked incredibly familiar. Why? Where had I seen it before? That's an answer that's been lost to time unfortunately.
At least we've got this book to serve as a document of wonderfully evocative landscapes littered with warriors and machinery, as well as the odd supernatural creature every now and then.
There's a lot to take in with this book, and it's a great coffee table style tome to flip through every now and then. There's always something new to discover upon repeated viewings of a book like this!
