Well, at the end of 1-6 was... another secret warp pad, color-coded yellow for our convenience! ...does it really count as "secret" anymore if it was the only exit to the stage? I mean, I get it, one secret stage leads to the other, but at which point do we stop calling some of it a secret and just acknowledge it as "the only way forward"? ... ... ...am I being too nitpicky here? (Probably. (Hey, quiet! Nobody asked you!))

Indigo Caves
Stage 1-7:

I would probably have called this stage a little tricky... but... apparently I was too on-the-ball to fall for any tricks! ...seriously, watching again after the fact, I didn't pick up on the false wall until it was revealed. I sure showed... me!

That said, the real trick in store, especially in extra stages like these... is that you'll probably be ambushed by a bunch of extra-rough customers. I think I was majorly freaked by the last stage's encounters, so I was overly ready for these ones and just cut to the chase with the emerging new high-end metagame showing us that Pearl's Spear Throw is way more powerful than the sum of the Star Points used to pay for it... and dropping the enemy defense PLUS the possibility of its higher-than-normal critical hit potential makes it a real go-to for dishing out the hurt in a hurry. (Honestly, that first giant scorpion never knew what hit it!)

Y'know, I think we've spent too much time in the Strawberry Battlefield, because I initially felt like the presence of three rubble-shielded foes was going to be an insurmountably annoying challenge... but paying for one Shield Breaker up front for several turns of reprieve from one of them is a real relief. Granted, their attacks are way stronger than a giant bouncing strawberry, but as long as you get a handle on them and keep the leash short, it's nothing we can't handle.

And... that's it? Suddenly, loot! Lots of it! Some pretty nice loot at that! ... ... ...although Lucky Restore seems a bit underwhelming if it's just a chance to heal on the already chance-based Lucky hits.

On that note, you might notice that I'm bumping up Luck anyway here and there... though I fear that Attack will trump it in the end anyway, and my investments this go around were possibly less than ideal... we'll see! I will confess a certain level of confusion with the way Luck functions based on my vague recollections from the non-Diamond Mode run I did back before the game got its updates... but there will be a time and place to address that when it becomes more relevant.

Clever monsters! How'd you know I would want to LEAVE with this nifty swag, huh?

I honestly don't know what's wrong with me sometimes, because I'll try so hard to inflict a burn even though it's a random side effect... emphasis on random... so... focusing on the basics of battle is much more important. When you neglect basic strategy, SOMEONE has to pay for it.

Incidentally, this game originally released on the same date as the premiere of the episode "Say Uncle," a crossover with fellow CN program Uncle Grandpa... your feelings about that aside (personally, I thought it was hilarious in spite of myself and my many, MANY misgivings upon hearing it was going to happen at all), this means the game launched very shortly AFTER the season one finale two-parter beginning with "The Return"...

However, since video games take a long time to make (kinda like television shows, especially animated ones!), they actually had Garnet take on a slightly different appearance when poofed, with both her gems being more Garnet-toned, although the unique designs of their individual cut reflected existing material. Naturally, many a fan took to the Internet and stormed the Grumpyface blog and other outlets to chime in about this inconsistency with content not even three weeks aired. As such, a minor update, after fixing some weird unforeseen glitches, they went and altered the colors to what you see here instead.

Er, this probably goes without saying, and I realize we're talking about something from the FIRST season, over two years old by now... but it'd be super nice to those who might be watching and somehow have resisted the urge to watch the show if we not get into any further detail than that, okay? Thanks for keeping the harmony!

...for that matter, you can tell by certain minor design details that this game takes place somewhere in the middle of Season 1.

Oh, and also, there's giant scorpions that got us into this mess to begin with... I should probably be careful about those, so I don't have to have long-winded side notes like these all over the place, huh?
