ST:O FPS Benchmark - Ground
0I made this video to show how the UI in Star Trek Online is incredibly unoptimized, to the point where it cuts my FPS by 2/3rds. Now, my computer isn't the best, and you'll see this if you watch a few of my minecraft videos. But this brings up complications even for the best of computers. An unoptimized UI demands more processing power, even if your PC is quite good and you don't see it in the form of framerate drops. For example, Star Trek Online is no stranger to overheating issues, and this could be one of the causes of that.
This is an exploration ground mission, many parts are shown with the UI on and others with the UI off. I've turned the FPS graph on so you can see just how bad of an effect the UI has on my gameplay.
Don't mind my ineptitude with the first group of Nausicans. I fall apart when I can't see what buttons I'm pushing. I kept trying to push my primary fire button but was instead mashing my secondary fire button. Thankfully my crew is a bit more intelligent than I am.
