I'd never heard of this game before I saw it on Lemon64.com so I thought I'd give it a go.

I've no idea what the story is but we can assume you have to save the world from certain doom with the aid of a big sword.

To be honest, it's a shame that our warrior chum has to carry around that big, hefty sword as he only needed to bring his feet; the foot in Storm Warrior is what the elbow is to Double Dragon. In fact, using anything other than the kick will get you killed because the combat is terrible.

The rest of the game is terrible too. The controls are particularly bad; it took a while to work out that you can't change directions suddenly else your character will actually walk in the opposite direction to the one that you pressed. Also, your character likes to change direction when attempting to kick enemies, which is really irritating considering the kick is the key to success.

I recorded 3 separate history inputs for the game and none of them worked due to the fact that the game is buggy and the enemies don't always behave in the same way or get stuck on the scenery.

I then decided to play it without tool-assists and instantly regretted it. I think it was by the third attempt that I was eye-bulgingly enraged and yelling at the controls. I managed to finish that awful final level on the final sliver of health; if the final boss had hit me I'd have been dead.

It's a shame it's so terrible because the sprites are reasonably animated and the Grim Reaper health bar is a really cool concept. The only thing that made this game bearable was the music by Mark Cooksey; I thought it was really quite good and didn't deserve to be associated with this mess.

Enjoy the kicking!
