Gameplay walkthrough of Stray.

Stray releases early 2022 on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and PC.

----

Stray is an upcoming adventure game developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. The game is scheduled for release in 2022 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game was formerly known as HK_Project or HK-Devblog named after its long running development blog.

The game is a third-person adventure game, in which the player controls a stray cat in a city, populated by robots. It has open world elements, with a focus on the atmosphere and art.

BlueTwelve co-founders Koola and Viv began working on Stray, originally known as HK_Project, as they wanted to pursue an independent project after working at Ubisoft. After they shared some footage from the game on Twitter, Annapurna Interactive reached out in April 2016 to publish the project. BlueTwelve Studio was founded in 2016 for the development of the game. Development took place in Montpellier in southern France. Stray was heavily influenced aesthetically by Kowloon Walled City, while the gameplay experience was specifically inspired by the founders' cats, Murtaugh and Riggs. The game utilises Unreal Engine 4.

The game was announced on June 11, 2020, at PlayStation's Future of Gaming event. In a Sony trailer at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2021, the game's release window was noted in fine print as October 2021; Sony later removed the fine print from the trailer. The game will be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

In July 2021, Annapurna Interactive showed off gameplay from Stray along with a new release window of early 2022.
