I revisit the original Flash Meat Boy game. I eventually managed to clear it during the stream and even got all the bandages, playing in the Basement Collection version. It's interesting seeing how it differs from its successor Super Meat Boy, being more vertically oriented. I also briefly showed off the Map Pack expansion but moved on for time reasons.

Before doing Meat Boy I took a look at the prototype version known as Vertigo that Jon Mcentee and Edmund McMillen started on before implementing the Meat Boy we know today, with a handful of test levels. This was included on an earlier CD-based McMillen compilation called "This is a Cry For Help". I had to give up on some of the levels but at least tried all of them.

Afterwards I played the ZX Spectrum-style Super Meat Boy mockup that Terry Cavanagh threw together while creating a title screen for and SMB warp zone. It's only got a few screens but is a nice little novelty. I also played through the PETA stunt game Tofu Boy, which prompted the inclusion of Tofu Boy himself as a (pathetic) character in SMB. Its busy backgrounds can distract from the action, but it's otherwise a short but perfectly cromulent game in the Flash Meat Boy mould.
