Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition 99 second countdown speed difference.
A few weeks ago I posted a video showing balance changes from USA's Champion Edition to Japan's Champion Edition.
There were a few other changes outside of game balance, one of them being the time it took for the 99 seconds round counter to drop down to 00.
Things to factor:
From various Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo insight videos online, different stages have different lag meaning that one stage could tick the 99 second timer faster than the other.
So in order to make this a fair test, I created a movie file on the USA version to be played back in the Japanese version to get the same character matchup and stage.
So for Guile's stage, the Japanese version ticks the timer down to 00 nearly 10 seconds faster than the USA version without factoring slowdown from attacks colliding such as fireballs.
I haven't tested other stages but I do remember the Japanese version of Chun-Li's stage having faster countdown when I was comparing Dictator's Psycho Crusher block hits.
