46Full game longplay of Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse, a remaster that came out very recently on March 16th 2021, for the PC, Xbox (One/Series) and Playstation (4/5?) consoles. It is basically more of a modernized port of the game for new hardware, rather than a remaster. Some changes to material rendering, 1080p+ resolutions support, borderless winowed mode, all that quality of life stuff, nothing groundbreaking though. Textures stay the same, animations are still visibly running at 30 fps, especially visible on 120Hz+ displays. Played on PC, in internal 1440p (200%) resolution, recorded in 1440p60. NOTE: white line at the top is because of some bug with windowed mode, the game wouldn't plsy nice with two monitors set-up.
It is also the second time I've recorded this game, the first one was on an og Xbox, with no widescreen. Here, cutscenes are still letterboxed, but the game itself is fully widescreened. I am not actually sure, but the cutscenes in the old pc version actually were full 16:9? Anyway, it's just the same game as before, no new content, I'd actually say there is less content, because the awesome music got cut out! Most probably a licensing issue, it's been over 16 years since the earlier version released! The game stays the same. A parody of 1950s utopia, horror and zombie movies all in one. Fun, short and full of action.
In 1933, Edward "Stubbs" Stubblefield is a poor traveling salesman during the Great Depression, who tries to make a living. He temporarily finds happiness with a girl named Maggie Monday, but he meets his unfortunate end when Otis, Maggie's father, comes home, and kills him, dumping his body in the wilderness.
26 years later, the city of Punchbowl, Pennsylvania, founded by multi-billionaire playboy industrialist Andrew Monday, Maggie's son, has been built directly on top of Stubbs' not-so-final resting place. At its opening ceremony in 1959, Stubbs rises from his grave as a zombie and decides to get his revenge by eating the brains of the inhabitants of Punchbowl, quickly creating his own army of the undead, causing increasing amounts of havoc as the zombies clash with the various militant factions of the area.
