Arriving back at the castle, Riou meets a boy named Koyu, who is one of the Lampdragon Bandits residing at the pass between Tinto and Two River City. He reveals that his people had been attacked by Neclord's zombies so he made a trip to Dunan Castle to seek the city-state hero's help.
Viktor accompanies Riou to Drakemouth Village, south of Two River City. They make it through the village guard with Koyu's help, and arrives at Tigermouth pass where they meet the rest of the bandits. Gijimu explains about a how big force suddenly attacked them, and since the zombie forces were unkillable, they had no choice but to burn the barricades and destroy the bridge.
Having no other leads, Viktor suggests that this will be a good time to unite forces with Tinto since Neclord's forces will certainly arrive soon. The party meets the city mayor Gustav, who gladly accepts their offer since he acknowledges Riou's strength after defeating Luca Blight.
On the next day, a unit led by Klaus and Ridley has arrived to provide assistance to Tinto. They are then surprised by Neclord at the city entrance, who leaves after warning them to evacuate the place if they do not want to become a part of his zombie kingdom.
Back in the meeting room, Jess and Hauser arrives, with them are 5000 soldiers from Greenhill and Muse. The deputy mayor of Muse strongly disagrees working with the Dunan army, as he still believes that Riou is involved in Annabelle's assassination, and is a spy working for Highland. Viktor and Ridley defends their army leader before Jess storms out of the room.
Early in the morning, Jess and Hauser prepares their troops to depart, as one of their men has uncovered Neclord's hideout. Ridley tries to warn them of the dangers they will face, but Hauser insists that he is a soldier of Muse, and only takes order from their acting mayor. Having no other options, Klaus suggests that they provide back up as it will be a big loss to them if they were to lose the Muse soldiers.
While waiting for the forces to return, Riou and Nanami hears the miners talking about a mine tunnel collapsing. Although a number of people has entered, no one returned. The duo enters the mines to check it out, but is surprised to see Neclord himself. The vampiric lord attempts to take over Riou with his rune's powers, but at the last moment, the Bright Shield rune emits a strong light, shielding Riou from the dark powers in the process.
The two manages to escape the mines and make it out to the city. But they discover however that the people have been turned to zombies. Barely having the energy to stand up after using his run'es powers earlier, Nanami put Riou on her back, carrying him out the zombie-infested city.
