PREVIOUSLY:
A week after the victory against Luca Blight, Riou and Nanami arrive at the town of Kuskus as they decide to stroll around the city-state. They learn that a Highland messenger had just arrived on a ship and they go to check it out.
They meet Culgan who reveals Jowy's ascension to the throne of Highland. The newly appointed king sends Culgan to deliver a message regarding a peace treaty agreement as the 3rd company general follows Riou to Dunan castle in order to make it a formal proposition.
The peace treaty shall be signed with the mayor of the capital city of Muse. But since that is not possible anymore, Culgan requests the presence of Teresa, the mayor of Greenhill, along with Dunan Army leader Riou..
Riou's party arrives at the deserted capital city, where they meet Jowy and his military advisor at Jowston Hill. After Riou declines Jowy's offer of surrendering his position in the Dunan army, Leon Silverberg demands that the Dunan army surrender unconditionally before Teresa notices the group of archers behind them.
Jowy repeatedly pleads for Riou to surrender peacefully, but the Dunan army hero once again rejects him. As Leon orders the archers to shoot, Viktor suddenly barges in with Pilika, clearing the exit of the soldiers in the process. Riou and the others manage to escape as Jowy decides against the shooting of arrows since Pilika is present.
With Chaco opening the city gates, the party manages to exit Muse safely and reunites with Flik's unit at Toto Village.
