29Super Mario Brothers in the style of Bob Dylan, or is that the other way around? This is a freeware public domain title, made as a demonstration of what the average person can create on their own, using Deluxe Paint and probably AMOS. Lets take a look.

Yes I thought I'd include all the info above for a change, for stats fans. 70% of the games recorded for this series were captured in 2016, with the rest mostly from spring 2017. The series tend to run from April until April, so this is when I record new stuff for next year - of which I now have everything recorded. Funnily enough, the last thing I recorded for Series 5 (Wednesday this week) was Great Giana SE (a free revamp of The Great Giana Sisters) - although it was not a good play of the game, so probably it wont be released on its own. I didnt even plan to include GG.SE in series 5, and so it will probably end up in series 6. More news on the Series Roadmap in a later video (which is ready).
I'd never seen or heard of this game at the time of recording it. I noticed the images on Lemon and decided to check it out. The palm trees remind me of Smidge (on Amiga Power disk 34, and public domain) which was released as Morton Strikes Back - another Mario-type game. Others include Hard 'N' Heavy, and the Adventures of Quik & Silva.
I couldnt find any Bob Dylan Mods so in the end I went with The Beatles. The guys were all friends and used to hang out together, so its not too far away.
In the review, I meant to say I like being able to destroy destructible blocks, but the disappearing blocks (I meant platforms) I can do without.
9:19 - If you pause the game here, you may notice there is no easy way to escape the level if you take the lower route. I did this by mistake on my quick warmup go, got trapped, and I had to quit, and remember which way to go in the review.
13:18 - I say 6.2%, when I meant 6.2 out of 10, which is 62%.

First off, the controlability of the character is very good, with no slip-slidey inertia to deal with, which makes the player instantly confident and able to play it. The screen layouts start easy, and the difficulty curve is very nice and gentle for beginners. The sense of fun in the game is heightened by some clear sound samples, and our character changing shape according to pickups. Some fun graphics and sounds overall. On the other hand, the graphics are perhaps the bare minimum the Amiga could come up with, compared to digitised HAM with 64 colour sprites, and the sound mix is up and down, with loud samples drowning out the music and sound effects. I should really give it a 6 as a good game - as there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. But this is still obviously a free public domain game, and its not of the same quality as Babeanoid 2, Sneech, Alien Bash 2 or Alien Fish Finger - which were all free and yet had better graphics and commercial polish. There is no high score table, and the longplay of this game reveals a bug, where it is not possible to complete the game, so with this disappointment in mind, I give it a 5.
