72Leander is another Legendary game on the Amiga, developed by Travellers Tales, and released by Psygnosis in 1991. We step back in time to the days of ancient myths, with lots of men and monsters to battle.

Leander was a game many people have played and seen back in the day, but the slow pace and the music is what sticks in the mind from the playing experience. Everything seems smooth and there arnt too many pits of death, although there are plenty of ways to die. Back then, I never got as far as I did in this review, and Im not even sure I tried again to beat this score in the competition. The game felt huge, and even larger than Lionheart and all those other mega long platformers, and this counts against it.
Armour Levels Vs Hit Points:
In the review I originally said blue is worth 3 hit points, e.g 3 hits and you are dead, blue is worth 2 and purple is 1. But on the shop screen I notice the game says the blue is worth 2 'extra hit points', 1 extra for green and zero for purple. So after I edited the narration I went back and changed these numbers to match the game, as an insert. All the other colours were also updated accordingly.
Travellers Tales are still in the business, and the company Director is Jon Burton. They now have two offices, one is in Knutsford, while the other is in Oxford.
Danscore:
The game isnt so harmless you can pass by with ease, like Superfrog, and exploring is not as action packed as Yoe Joe or Ruff n Tumble, or with as many scenery changes. The music
doesnt change enough, as the player can go 30 or 40 mins hearing the same theme. While the long 7 levels per world dont give the player the passwords to practice and explore levels, and get better, so they have to reply on taking everything slowly and sweating their way ahead, until they know the levels. With many things looking samey, this isnt easy to memorise them. The sheer size will mean players could abandon the game without seeing 70% of it, meaning the amazing waterfalls and bosses are a little wasted. I would give this game a 6.5 as a good game, and quite fun, but veterans would probably give it higher marks on the time Vs reward factor.
