Zeewolf 2 (Amiga) - A Playguide and Review - by LemonAmiga.com
Zeewolf 2 is a 3D shoot em up, in the style of Virus, but with the firepower of Desert Strike. The game feels like an update to the original game in every way; - it feels faster and smoother, and with lots more things to do.

I had this lined up much sooner than this, perhaps it was on the list last year, and it was all pre-edited - which saved me a lot of time this week. Speaking of saving time, I played around with VoiceMeeter last week and I think I managed to get a good sound from it. It means I dont have to add two layers of filters to remove the bass sounds. I also gave up with Levelator, as the result was not saving me any time, and was distorting the loud parts and making them too quiet - making for work for me instead of less.
I began narrating this live, but due to slipping and slurring, I gave up on it after a while and returned to narrating 1 minute at a time. This seemed to sound more presentable. I tried the live approach before and it worked, but I guess it just depends how tongue tied I get with what I'm saying, and after all these years its easier to ad-lib stuff that way.
Speaking of which, I almost ad-libbed something about Steve Benway instead of General Benway, and I thought this would be funny. But it seems I forgot to mention him in the review. Dodged another bullet there Steve.
4:47 - The Quit key is listed as Q in the red box, but in fact its F10. I kept forgetting to go back and change that during editing.

Zeewolf 2 is is a very long game, with a learning curve which is almost too easy at the start. The missions that require lots of retries mainly depend on the player knowing what they are supposed to be doing, and once this is fathomed, the path to complete each level seems fun enough. That is until the steep cliff of the last 10 levels, and here the passwords will come in handy (although you dont get one for each level). But is there enough here to hook a player today?, perhaps not, and just like the original Zeewolf, the best missions are in the middle, so the average player may not load the game up a second time to see them. Sure this is better in every way then the original, but for me, Zeewolf 1 will always have the immense oppressive atmosphere, while this seems like a sunny day walking in the park. I give it a 7, but without that deep and dark hookability or Zeewolf 1, the replay value is limited. This seems like a copy of the original game without reinventing it, and as such seems like Zeewolf 1.5, and just a shade under-cooked.
