Lethal Xcess (Amiga) - A Playguide and Review - by LemonAmiga.com
Lethal Xcess (Wot!, not Cross-ess?), is a vertical Shoot Em Up from 1991. This has all the hallmarks of a great game, but memorising all the attack patterns in order to master it can be quite challenging. Id never heard of this game before I made this review.

Mistakes:
I got the shield orbs mixed up in number at the start of one try, and I say I have One when I have in fact grade three orb power. This was a live commentary mistake. I also didnt mention that five orbs gives super strong firepower, with the projectiles going slightly red.
8:47: I say Wiping Blasters, I think these are Wiping Blades?
I also say the game could have been slightly quicker around 17:40, but by collecting the top number of speedups, its actually fast enough. There is a lot packed on to the screen, restricting flight - unlike Banshee, Hybris or SWIV, so speedups ultimately make or break the game.
At the end, I forgot to include the Amiga Joker score in the narration, so I inserted the magazine page in the Lemon spot, to cover the fact it was included in the average score.
Lethal Xcess was made for the Atari ST, and is an almost identical game. I say the scrolling is slightly juddery at close inspection, but as my rips are getting better in quality these days, the videos are becoming less juddery in general, so it looks pretty smooth for this channel. :)
DanScore: (inspired by the DougScore)
I guess its a game I would play but put down quickly because of the steep difficulty mountain at the start of the game. You can collect a mega powerup but it only lasts a short time, leaving you vulnerable. This is a cheap track. The graphics lack the wonderful colours and ancient atmosphere of Wings of Death, and the first level looks more like you are scaling a wall of bricks and ledges. The weapons seem weak and with no Dragon Fire, or Specials like the the great Mega Typhoon. This feels average, so I'd give it 6 out of 10. That could go up if this appears in the competition and I get to really know and respect it a lot more. So even though Lethal Xcess is no instant classic, its not bad.
