Super "FRUSTRATION" Bros ZX Spectrum [Quick Play] | Nostalgia Nerd
Super Mario Bros (it should really be called Super Frustration Bros), is a demo for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum based on Nintendo's favourite video game character... MARIO. This is a short game consisting of a few levels created for the "Your Game 2002" competition. It came 3rd, and it's clear to see why. It's an amazing effort on the Spectrum 128k hardware, featuring smooth scrolling, music, jumping, running, and all the usual gimmicks you expect from Super Mario Bros. This video is quite long, but that's mainly because I'm absolutely grade A turd at playing it, hence the title. I WILL NOT BE BEATEN!
All in all, it's a very addictive little game of Super Mario Bros for the Spectrum, and I have to say, hats off to the developers. The collision detection is spot on the money, which I think helps with play-ability immensely, and was undoubtedly one of the reasons I became addicted so quickly.
At the end of the video - 35:12 - I demonstrate the game in "Turbo" 7MHz mode, which really does improve it a great deal. Now, if only I'd have gone for that from the start....
