This was just the last level I needed to beat with all of the characters (while doing the rest off-screen) in order to obtain the last of the stamps in the game (they're just each character's icon pics) and get 5 stars on my file. If you want those file stars to stay sparkling, don't use the invincibility Tanooki Leaf that's offered if you die on a level enough times. I could be wrong on this, but if you did use the leaf before on a level, you can go back to that same level and beat it without the power up and you might be able to get the sparkles back.
