Super Mario Maker 2 IS COMING!
Super Mario Maker 2 IS COMING!
Welcome to the Screencap
Much like the first game, you can create whatever Mario map your heart desires and upload them for anyone around the world to play. You can also download a play other people's creations, giving you a near infinite number of levels that you can play. You're able to change the map's theme from overworld, underground, underwater [adlib don't do that no one likes underwater levels you have been warned], or even castle levels. Other than just changing the map theme, you can also change the game's theme; from the original Super Mario Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario world, and New Super Mario Bros. Rather than just the original level themes from before, you can now make desert levels, snowy levels, and forest levels as well. You're now also able to create slopes for Mario to slide down or travel up. The Angry Sun enemy was also added, and behaves the same as it did in Super Mario Bros. 3. Other than that you can now change the Angry Sun into the Happy Moon, changed the level into night mode! Normally when you get hit by the Angry Sun you take some damage, now with the Happy Moon, when you hit it, it'll clear all enemies from the screen. Night mode also changes some mechanics; normal ground mode will have floating Goombas, underground will be upside down, the Ghost House will have dimmed lights so you can only see what's directly near you, in the sky there's less gravity, snow levels will have a slippery ground, and the forest levels will have poisonous water! You can also now spawn the snake blocks from Super Mario World. [adlib God remember those castle levels where you follow on top of a snake block while dodging traps?] You're able to create different types of snake blocks, and you can freely draw out its trajectory. There's also now the On/Off switch blocks, which will toggle between the blue or red blocks, change conveyor belt directions, or affect many different mechanics whenever you hit the switch. A Seesaw was also added which will lean either direction depending on what side Mario is standing on. There's a swinging claw that can grab Mario to allow him to sort of swing and gain momentum, and the claw can also grab and drop different enemies. You can set the water level for a map as well, and have the water level change at certain times, or points of the map. It's not just water level you can change though, you can do all the same mechanics with lava! They also included the ability to set a scroll speed if you're a fan of those auto scrolling levels, you can set the speed to whatever you desire, from insanely fast, to why do they even let you make it this slow oh my god I have things to do just hurry up already. You can set the speed to change at different points, and also change the scroll direction, so if you want an auto scroller that has you climb a dangerous trap ridden tower, then so be it! The Dry Bones Shell is also a new item that's resistant to lava, allowing Mario to swim in this dangerous red liquid. The shell also has the ability to let Mario play dead, and while in this state Mario is temporarily invincible! There's also a new Story Mode that will sort of teach you how to play Super Mario Maker. The Story Mode has over 100 levels created by Nintendo that will reward you with coins whenever you complete a level. And finally, There's also a new Super Mario 3D World gamestyle, which include many, many different features and mechanics, floating crates on water or lava, clear pipes, cat Mario, and a number of other things. However, when you toggle to this gamestyle, it will clear whatever you made on any other gamestyle since you can do so many different things on this style. Online competitive and coop is another large feature added that we don't have time to go into detail about, but if you want to see everything that they talked about, I'd go and watch the direct for yourself.
