Super Mario Maker 2 - Ninji Speedrun: SMB2 Mario: Can You Dig It? (0:38.656)
A few tips that might help you achieve a faster time:
1. You can accelerate/decelerate faster in the air than on ice, so hopping around can help you control your momentum better.
2. There's a maximum reaction range for the Spikes (the snowball chuckers). This doesn't come into play much, but if you do the very first jump in this level incorrectly, you may trigger a snowball throw too early and get your bonce clobbered.
3. At around 0:26, you can actually reach the key from the lower snowball if you get a good running jump. Not entirely sure if it's that much faster than just using the higher snowball.
4. You can get a bit more speed from the parachuting snowballs at the end if you time the jump slightly later than I did.
Much like the Goombud Bust-Up run, I only did two successful runs after the recon. Still got a better rank than I expected, though there's still six days before deadline.
Didn't really like this course, if I'm fully honest. I love the Mario 2 mechanics, but the whole digging and picking stuff up when you're trying to go fast really kills the tempo for me. So, to answer the level's question, I guess I can't dig it.
Tried something different with the recording this time by doubling up. I had both the capture device and ShadowPlay recording simultaneously, allowing for more chances for the video quality to not be trash. Both ended up looking pretty much identical (mostly fine, frame drops at the Thwomp bit), but I ended up using the SP recording since I didn't need to re-encode it before I could trim it.
