Once you have defeated all of the other rematch bosses, Culex's door in Monstro Town will reappear, and it can be opened using the Extra-Shiny Stone given to you by Johnny. Inside is the ultimate boss battle of the game, against Culex's new 3D form and the 3D forms of his crystals.

This is a long, brutal battle with a number of gimmicks involved. At the start of the battle, Culex will cast Meteor, reducing all three active party members to 1 HP automatically. He will then begin a countdown each time he attacks, starting at four and counting down to zero, at which point he will cast Meteor again; if a party member is below full HP when Meteor goes off, they will automatically be knocked out.

If you defeat Culex and any crystals are still active, they will sacrifice themselves to restore him at full HP. The crystals are also capable of using Bowyer's button locks to disrupt your actions. When a crystal is defeated, it will cast a spell that boosts all other remaining combatants in a certain stat before shattering.

When all of the crystals are destroyed, Culex will change his pattern. Now, when he hits zero, he will instead use Final Claw, an attack that does 9999 damage unless it is blocked with an action command.

If you manage to defeat Culex, he will award you a Crystal Shard as a trophy and record the number of turns it took for you to achieve victory. You may return at any time you wish to battle him again and attempt to better your record.
