This part is mostly optional stuff, the first one is where to get the Lazy Shell, both the weapon and the armour, you will need both the seed and the fertilizer, the seed can be obtained from a Beezo after beating Smilax in Bean Valley, and you get the fertilizer from a Beezo on an invisible path in Nimbus Land after beating Valentina, then talk to the Gardener in Rose Town, and for some reason the music speeds up while he is going through his dialogue, after giving him the items, climb the beanstalk and that's where you can get the Lazy Shell, the weapon is Mario's best weapon, and its power is random from 50, 90, or 130, giving it the highest power of any weapon, and the Lazy Shell armor has high defense and protects the user from negative status, but reduces attack power, this can be good on Peach as she is more of a healer and doesn't attack that often. I also check on the Frog Sage after reuniting Mallow with his parents.
Next is the secret door at Monstro Town, and you need the Shiny Stone, which is obtained through the trade quest at Moleville. The Fire Crystal is weak to Ice. The blue one is the Water Crystal, this one uses ice attacks, Crystal, Diamond Saw, Ice Rock, Blizzard, and Solidify, and this one is weak to Fire attacks. The yellow one is the Earth Crystal, this one has earth-based moves like Boulder and Sand Storm, as well as some elemental moves like Blast, Storm, and Water Blast, this one is weak to Lightning. The green one is the Wind Crystal, which has the lowest HP out of all of the crystals, and this one uses electricity based moves like Lightning Orb, Electroshock, and Static Electricity, and this one can inflict status with Light Bubble and Petal Blast, it is weak to Jump attacks.
Then for Culex himself, he has Shredder, which removes all stat changes like Attack Up and Defense Up, and it even affects stat boosts from items like Troopa Medal and Ghost Medal. Culex has Flame Stone and Meteor Blast, and he is the first enemy to have Dark Star, this is like Mallow's Star Rain and is the most powerful magic attack in the game.
Best strategy is to use Geno Boost on Mario, and equip items like Party Bracer and Party Energizer, and reapply them after Culex uses Shredder, and for crystals, defeat the Wind Crystal first as it has the least amount of health and can inflict status, then you will want to get rid of the Water Crystal next, then the Earth Crystal, and then the Fire Crystal, Mallow's Snowy, Mario's Ultra Fireball, and Geno's Geno Blast can come to good use in this battle. Once all the crystals are down, Culex remains, use all you can to take him down, and the victory theme from Final Fantasy plays when Culex is defeated.
For beating Culex, you will earn the Quartz Charm, which halves damage from enemy attack and adds 50% more to the user's attacks, and this protects the user against mortal blows.
