To complete the original Starter Pokémon, we get a repeat run of the Charizard Tera Raid Event, this was the first ever 7 Star Tera Raid Event, the initial event happened back in 2022, around two weeks after the release of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. This event does give newer players a chance to capture Charizard, but other than that, it is the same event from way back then.
Going over Charizard, it has a Dragon Tera Type, if you caught Charizard from way back then, you cannot capture it again, its moves are Dragon Pulse, Fire Blast, Hurricane, and Focus Blast, and its extra moves are Overheat, Tera Blast, Sunny Day, and Inferno. Charizard uses Overheat right at the start of the battle, and then resets its own stats, and at 65% HP is when it puts up a shield. The rest of its actions are based on the amount of HP remaining, 70% HP has it reset player stats, 50% HP is when Charizard uses Tera Blast, it uses Sunny Day at 40% HP, and at 20% HP is when it uses Inferno.
The same counters from back then, like Sylveon, Azumarill, and Flutter Mane are still good options, while Azumarill does require set-up, Sylveon and Flutter Mane have very good Special Defense, they both can learn Fake Tears and Draining Kiss, Sylveon can even go for the 1-Hit KO strategy with Hyper Beam after enough Special Defense drops, and Flutter Mane is a good option not only because of its Special Defense, but it has Protosynthesis to boost its Special Attack, that is if Flutter Mane has a higher Special Attack stat. Back in the initial video where I listed Pokémon that can learn Dazzling Gleam and Play Rough through TM like Arcanine or Gengar, Arcanine is an effective counter if it has Flash Fire, and I did read about Ice Tera Heatran as a niche pick to trick Charizard into using Fire Blast, but I didn't want to go with that. The Pokémon that I picked for this event is Primarina which I brought over from Sword & Shield, her moveset is Light Screen to decrease the damage from Charizard's attacks, and she has a Light Clay attached, Calm Mind to boost her stats, Moonblast and Draining Kiss for her attacks, and Primarina was not available back when the Charizard event first happened. Back when I did the Charizard Tera Raid Event back then, the only Level 100 EV Trained Pokémon I had back then was Miraidon, and right now I have a lot of options for Tera Raid Battles.
To list other counters, Dachsbun still remains a top counter, as a supporter that is, because Dachsbun has Well-Baked Body to give it an immunity to Charizard's Fire-type moves, and it can lower Charizard's stats with Snarl and Mud-Slap, because Charizard cannot reset its own stats, the only time it does that is after using Overheat at the start of the battle.
For new counters, Alcremie is a great supporter, it can use Decorate to power up its allies, and it can get Light Screen, Misty Terrain, Helping Hand, Fake Tears, and many other support options, and it has good Special Defense to take Charizard's attacks, and another Fairy-type Pokémon is Fezandipiti, which can learn Acid Spray to lower Charizard's Special Defense, and it has Toxic Chain which can poison the opponent, other Fairy-types like Gardevoir, Clefable, Florges, or Comfey are decent choices because of their Special Defense.
Charizard does come with some good moves in Fire Blast and Hurricane, and the Dragon Tera Type powers up Dragon Pulse, but for other Tera Type options, Fire is a very powerful one, because in the sun, this can make Charizard's Fire Blast even more powerful. It does get some good TM access to moves like Solar Beam, Will-O-Wisp, Fire Pledge, Blast Burn, and Scorching Sands, and it can learn the new Dragon Cheer to help allies out, Charizard cannot boost its own Special Attack stat, which means if you want to use it in Tera Raid Battles, it will need some support from allies, a teammate that can set up Sunny Day to make Charizard's Fire-type moves reach high levels of power, a teammate like Alcremie which can increase Charizard's attacking stats with Decorate, and one that can lower the opponent's stats, but there are many better Fire-type Pokémon to use in Tera Raid Battles.
