Super Mario World 3: Yoshi's Island, conhecido no Japão como Super Mario: Yoshi's Island (スーパーマリオ ヨッシーアイランド Sūpā Mario: Yosshī Airando?) é um jogo de plataforma desenvolvido e publicado pela Nintendo para o Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Seu lançamento no Japão foi em agosto de 1995 e em outubro de 1995 nos Estados Unidos. O jogo é uma prequência de Super Mario World, onde o jogador desta vez controla somente o Yoshi, que deve acompanhar Mario ainda bebê através de seis mundos, a fim de reuni-lo com o seu irmão Luigi, que tinha sido sequestrado por capangas de Baby Bowser.
O visual do jogo foi desenhado a mão, trazendo um novo estilo à série. Além disso, os gráficos do jogo possuem efeitos especiais feitos pelo microchip Super FX 2, permitindo um visual belo para o jogo. Yoshi's Island recebeu aclamação generalizada da crítica e diversos elogios para a sua estética, som e jogabilidade. O jogo vendeu mais de 4 milhões de cópias em todo mundo, se tornando o sétimo jogo mais vendido do SNES.[1]
Super Mario World 3: Yoshi's Island[a] is a 1995 platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). To reunite baby Mario with his brother Luigi, who has been kidnapped by Kamek, the player controls Yoshi, a friendly dinosaur, through 48 levels while carrying Baby Mario. As a Super Mario series platformer, Yoshi runs and jumps to reach the end of the level while solving puzzles and collecting items. In a style new to the series, the game has a hand-drawn aesthetic and is the first to have Yoshi as its main character. The game introduces his signature abilities to flutter jump and produce eggs from swallowed enemies.
The game has a unique visual style, which heavily contrasts with the pre-rendered visuals of contemporary games popularized by Donkey Kong Country. After four years of development, Yoshi's Island was released in Japan in August 1995, and worldwide two months later. Some of its special effects were powered by a new Super FX2 microchip. The game was ported to the Game Boy Advance with few changes in 2002. This version was rereleased for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011 and the Wii U Virtual Console in 2014. The original version was also released for the Super NES Classic Edition in 2017 and Nintendo Switch Online in 2019.
