I am playing as Lucina for Classic Mode in this video, and when I randomized the list, I had 10 characters remaining, and after this one, there will be 5 characters left, that is because I randomize a list to decide my characters, the playlist will display the fighters in order of how they are displayed on the roster. If Echo Fighters were sorted by order of reveal, Lucina being the Echo Fighter of Marth, Lucina would be placed between Pac-Man and Robin, because in the reveal trailer for Robin, Lucina was revealed first, despite being an unlockable character in Smash 4, but that same reveal trailer did confirm the return of Captain Falcon, and Chrom being deconfirmed. Lucina's Classic Mode route is A Path of Heroes, and she fights against characters from the Fire Emblem series, in order from the most recent to the least recent, likely because Lucina is from the future, and she travelled back to the past in Fire Emblem Awakening.
To unlock Lucina, there are many different ways, one of them is Vs. Matches, where Lucina is the 23rd character to be unlocked, and she is the 5th character unlocked by completing Classic Mode with Yoshi or anyone in his unlock tree after Ganondorf.
In Round 1, you fight against both male and female Corrin, and the stage is Find Mii, or StreetPass Quest in Europe, in Round 2, your opponent is Chrom, and you fight him on Arena Ferox, items do not appear in that fight. In Round 3, you fight both male and female Robin, and the stage is Reset Bomb Forest, in Round 4, your opponent is Ike, and the stage is Castle Siege. In Round 5, you fight against Roy on Norfair, and in Round 6, your opponent is Marth, and the stage is Coliseum, and items are turned off in that battle.
Next is the Bonus Stage, and you fight against Master Hand at the end, if you are playing on Intensity 7.0 or higher, you do have to fight Crazy Hand as well.
After that, the credits will roll, and the music is Id (Purpose), the original version of the song, and you would unlock the Fighter Spirit for Lucina if you completed Classic Mode with her for the first time. This Classic Mode did have Lucina going up against Fire Emblem characters, but for some reason, you don't fight Ike's Radiant Dawn alternate costume alongside his Path of Radiance appearance, I don't count Byleth, as he is a DLC in this game, and he was not in the base game.
