This is a lifestyle review of the Samsung Odyssey G9. I've been using this monitor for around three weeks and I've fallen in love with it. So much so I'll be buying one and you should too. Though it is expensive as chuff and you'll need a big desk!

**update, this review unit had to go back, but I've now bought my own and it's still just as awesome. It is worth noting there's an issue with RTX 30-series cards having problems with 240Hz on the Samsung Odyssey G9 though. Google it.

The Samsung Odyssey G9 is an upgraded version of the Samsung CRG9 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj8Yx2Oxy_A) I reviewed previously and it's epic.

Features include:
- QLED Quantum Dot screen technology
- 1000R curve
- HDR1000 and HDR10+
- 5,120 x 1,440 resolution, 1ms response time, 240Hz refresh rate
- G-Sync compatible
- Picture-by-picture mode
- 2500:1 Contrast Ratio Static

This monitor is fantastic for gaming and includes some serious specs and some really nice highlights. It's hard to do a super ultra wide monitor justice, but essentially this screen gives you a much wider peripheral view of the gaming world, meaning you're a lot more immersed in the game.

For me the highlights are the stunning visuals in games, both with HDR on and off and just the sheer awesomeness of it. The Samsung Odyssey G9 is essentially two 27-inch monitors stitched together and you can actually use it as such should you need to. This is a highlight for me, as on Friday and Saturday I usually stream on YouTube or Twitch and if you're doing that you really need a 16:9 resolution. Plugging in two DisplayPort cables, you can use picture-by-picture mode to tell your PC that you have two displays and treat it as such - with the two sides showing 2560 x 1440 pixels at 120Hz. When not in that mode, you can enjoy single player games at 5120 x 1440, 240Hz.

For multitasking, the G9 is also great as you can basically have four decent sized browsers or apps side-by-side to allow for easy working and productivity. I also like simple things like eye saver mode which makes it easier on the eye to use for gaming and the fact that everything is controlled with one button - rather than several.

Downsides of the monitor from what I've seen:
- HDR mode can be a PITA and problematic with some games
- If you have two DP cables plugged in adaptive sync can cause Windows to think there are two screens

This is my desk - https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/linnmon-alex-table-white-s59932698/ only upgraded with a real wooden top.
