#SuperOldGameSaturday - Space Invaders (PlayStation)

Every month here on #SuperOldGameSaturday, we play a game that one of our viewers like you want to see represented on the show and, for our July 2025 request, and our last live show this month, it comes to us from ElecVerse, who wanted to see the 1999 remake of Space Invaders from Activision and Z-Axis for the PlayStation (it's also on PC, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and sort of on Game Boy Color). We've played quite a few games in Taito's space shooting series on the show as it's been, but this version effectively extends and expands upon the legacy and heritage of this gaming giant, while also offering a unique aura and twists on its gameplay and, as always, myself and the best chat on Twitch went through all 100 of the game's levels, all of its bosses, all of its power-ups, all of its modes (including the unlockable port of the 1978 original game) as we shared our memories and insights on this game, Space Invaders as a series, classic game remakes, favorite series of ours, future viewer requests coming down the pipeline and more. Also, I tossed in a preview at another Activision-published PlayStation requested for the show for good measure, whose identity I'll leave you to see in the video. As always, I can't thank all of you enough for joining our show and driving it with great viewer requests like this and once again, thanks to ElecVerse for requesting this underrated and well worth remembering remake of Space Invaders.
